What is Make?

Make (formerly Integromat) is a no-code automation platform that connects over 3,000 apps in visually built scenarios – including AI steps and branching logic. The free tier offers 1,000 operations/month and two active scenarios; the Core plan significantly increases the quota and is usually cheaper than the comparable Zapier tier.

Unlike purely list-based tools, Make works with a drag-and-drop canvas: every step is a module that passes data on to the next. A single "scenario" can orchestrate multiple apps, filters, iterators, and routers in parallel — for example, summarizing an incoming email with AI, storing it in a database, and triggering a Slack message at the same time. It is precisely this visual branching logic that sets Make apart from Zapier, which is built more linearly.

Make: Strengths and weaknesses

Make's biggest strength is value for money: if you need many operations per task, you pay considerably less than with competing platforms, because billing is per operation (not per task) and complex workflows can be mapped efficiently. The visual canvas also keeps nested flows comprehensible, and native AI modules plus HTTP/webhook blocks allow virtually any integration — making it possible to build no-code AI agents that orchestrate multiple steps on their own.

Weaknesses show up in the learning curve: the modular approach is powerful but can feel overwhelming for beginners, and debugging multi-step scenarios takes some practice. If you want maximum data control or self-hosting, the open-source approach of n8n is a better fit — Make is a pure cloud solution.

Make is available in a free tier with 1,000 operations per month and two active scenarios — generous enough for first automations. The paid entry plan (Core) starts at around $9/month with annual billing and significantly raises the operations quota and the number of scenarios. Higher plans (Pro, Teams, Enterprise) add more operations, shorter intervals, and team features. Because billing is based on operations, actual costs depend heavily on workflow complexity.

Who is Make for?

Make is well-suited to no-code users, solopreneurs, and teams that want to connect several apps in more demanding, branched flows while keeping an eye on cost. If you mostly need simple "if this, then that" automations with the widest possible app selection, Zapier often gets you started faster. Teams with high privacy requirements or a desire for self-hosting should also evaluate n8n.
